Land and property has grown buy 50% in the last year many affluent Slovakians have and are purchasing property in and around this area this is a well kept secret.
Oščadnica is the longest village in Slovakia. It is located in a “Frost Valley” which means that although the mountains are relatively low in altitude the village has much lower temperatures than many of the surrounding areas. Consequently the ski season starts mid-December but it is not unknown for the slopes to be open from the last weekend in November and ends mid to late April. It is rare for the village or slopes to be without snow during these periods. It does however have its own snow making machines on the slopes like all the major European resorts.
Thanks to the partnership of the village with a US businessman there has been significantly more investment in the resort than many other ski resorts in Slovakia. Consequently the slopes have all the state of the art equipment including snow making machines, lifts and chip and pin ski passes you would expect to find in major european resorts. A ski bus runs along the village road to the various slopes every 10 minutes. One of the slopes is open every evening for night time skiing.

The resort is in the Kysuce region of Slovakia and its nearest town is Čadca.
However it is just 32km from Žilina one of Slovakia’s largest cities. Žilina boasts a wealth of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, cafés and cake shops. There is a wealth of history with castles, churches and a cathedral with the most stunning Town Centre square. During the Summer months as with many Continental European cities and towns, you can eat "al fresco" or just enjoy a quiet drink. A typical meal out with 2 courses and drinks for 4 people would cost approximately £12 - £16.
The Resort is undergoing further re-development and new shops, restaurants and bars are scheduled to open for 2006/7 ski season.
There are future plans to open 2 new ski slopes, build an ice-rink, new hotels and a large car park. There is a separate snowboard slope and there are English speaking instructors. One hour’s individual tuition with an English speaking instructor costs £10 for one person or £24 for family of 5!
Whilst there are some some Black Runs it is a medium sized resort and ideally suited for families and intermediate skiers.
During the Summer months various attractions have been laid on by the village on the ski slopes and include a Bobsleigh Run, Rope Park, Trampolines, Quad Bikes and a Climbing Wall amongst others.
Horse Riding, Fishing, Caving as well as other historical attractions are nearby. Further afield Aqua parks are springing up all over the country and provide an enjoyable day out.
The downhill trails are regularly trimmed by SPV Kassbohrer and 100% of the downhill trails are equipped with technical snowmaking systems.
In optimal atmospheric conditions we are able to cover all downhill trails with artificial snow in just 10 days ensuring that the ski resort will be operational even when there is no natural snow.
